MEDFORD, Ore. – Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors (JAH4WW) will hand over the keys to a brand new mortgage-free, handicap-accessible home for Marine Cpl. Jed Morgan at 9:30 a.m. local time on Friday, January 27 in Medford, Oregon.
JAH4WW founder and former pro football star, Jared Allen, will be available for interviews from 10:30-11:00 a.m. on Friday. Cpl. Morgan, along with JAH4WW Project Manager, Alex Karalexis, and JAH4WW Executive Director Dylan Vicha will also be available for interviews. Media will be allowed to walk through the home after the Morgans and Foundation executives have completed their tours. Interested media members may contact Amanda Rahtz ([email protected]; 480-267-4176) for the private address.
Cpl. Morgan graduated from Liberty High School in 2008 and joined the United States Marine Corps the following year. Three months after marrying his wife, Anna, he was deployed to Afghanistan. On June 21, 2012, Cpl. Morgan was critically injured in an IED explosion. As a result, he lost both of his legs and all mobility in his dominant arm. Morgan spent the next 12 weeks at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he was honored with a Purple Heart for his service and sacrifice.
Despite his life-altering injuries, Cpl. Morgan has remained hopeful and positive. However, living in a home that is not handicap-accessible has made even the simplest everyday tasks extremely challenging. Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors proudly teamed up with the White Heart Foundation, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, and S&B James Construction Management to provide Cpl. Morgan, his wife, and their young daughter a home that suits their needs.
Since its inception in 2009, JAH4WW has completed handicap-accessible homes for seven injured U.S. military veterans and is in the process of building five more across the country in 2017.
