JAH4WW and Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund to Hand Over Keys to SFC Cory Remsburg

On Friday, March 13th, Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors (JAH4WW) and all-pro defensive end, Jared Allen, in collaboration with Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund, will host a private Home Key Ceremony for Army Sgt. 1st Class Cory Remsburg between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (MDT) in Gilbert, Arizona.

The ceremony will kick off with the National Anthem and welcome speech, followed by Keynote Speakers: Jim Regan, Chairman and CEO of Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund, Mike Christensen from Peak One Builders, the Remsburg family, and Jared Allen. The ceremony will also include on open house tour – marking the completion of the home remodel, as the keys are proudly handed over to Army Sgt. 1st Class Cory Remsburg.

After joining the Army at 18, Remsburg went through demanding specialized training to become an elite Army Ranger and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan ten times. Remsburg eventually became the leader of his company’s heavy weapons squad throughout 39 months in combat. On October 1, 2009, Remsburg’s platoon hit a roadside bomb in Kandahar, Afghanistan. As a result, he suffered a penetrating head wound with shrapnel lodged in his brain, which left him in a coma for over three months. With dozens of surgeries, years of rehabilitation, and the support of his family, he has made a miraculous recovery. The accident left Remsburg blind in his right eye and partially paralyzed on his left side. Although Remsburg continues to fight through recovery, for now, he spends most of his time in a wheelchair and lives in a home that is not accessible.

Since sustaining his life-altering injuries in 2009, Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund has played an integral role in supporting Cory and the family through the rehabilitation and recovery process. To assist Remsburg in conquering the next steps toward recovery and independence, Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund and JAH4WW purchased a home that Remsburg chose in 2014. Local contractor, Peak One Builders and Kilbane Architecture designed Remsburg’s home to include everything that he will need throughout his recovery and beyond 100% free and clear of any mortgages. This project was also made possible because of large donations and grants from organizations such as RIDE 430, The Joshua Chamberlain Society, Wells Fargo, Home Depot, Boeing, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The extensive remodel includes the widening of all doors and hallways, smooth tile throughout, custom bathrooms and kitchen, wheel in sinks, new windows and doors, a wheel in pool for rehab, therapeutic spa, a guest home for his caregiver, a home gym, new appliances, outdoor patio and BBQ, a new roof, concrete paths for wheelchair, all controlled by a home automation system accessible from Remsburg’s wheelchair. For more information on Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund, please visit www.leadthewayfund.org.
