Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors to Host Remodel Commencement Ceremony for Cory Remsburg

Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors (JAH4WW) will be hosting a remodel commencement ceremony this Friday, July 11, 2014 for Army Ranger Sgt. 1st Class Cory Remsburg. The ceremony will commence the remodel of Remsburg’s home to be accessible and will take place between 10 a.m – 11 a.m. (MDT) in Gilbert, Arizona. Since 2009, Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors foundation has been providing support for injured United States military veterans by remodeling homes to make them accessible.

After joining the Army at 18, Remsburg went through intense, specialized training to become an elite Army Ranger, eventually becoming the leader of his company’s heavy weapons squad. On October 1, 2009, everything took a sudden turn when his platoon hit a roadside bomb in Kandahar, Afghanistan during his tenth deployment to the Middle East. As a result, he suffered a penetrating head wound with shrapnel lodged in his brain, which left him in a coma for over three months. With dozens of surgeries, years of rehabilitation, and the support of his family, he has made a miraculous recovery. Unfortunately, the accident left Remsburg blind in his right eye, partially paralyzed on his left side and currently living in a home that is not suitable for his daily needs.

“I first heard the incredible story of Sgt. 1st Class Cory Remsburg in 2013 and knew that he was someone we needed to assist,” said Allen. Since then, JAH4WW has teamed up with Lead The Way Fund, Inc and RIDE 430 Challenge powered by the Free Wheel Foundation, among others, to help raise money and compete the home remodel for Remsburg. In addition to supporting donors, John Lewis, Mayor of Gilbert, Arizona will also be present at the remodel commencement ceremony to show his support and honor a truly deserving American hero – Cory Remsburg.

Lead The Way Fund, Inc is a nonprofit organization, established to raise funds in support of disabled U.S. Army Rangers and the families of Rangers who have died, have been injured or are currently serving in harm’s way around the world. The RIDE 430 Challenge powered by The Free Wheel Foundation is nonprofit cycling event that helps give America’s injured military service people and their families hope and assistance as they travel the road to recovery. The RIDE is a four-day, 430-mile challenge, in which the participants help raise money to help injured service people and families who have lost loved ones. All of the proceeds raised from this year’s JAH4WW RIDE 430 will go directly to help raise money to remodel or build accessible homes for Cory Remsburg and Army Sgt. John Ricketts.

With the help of supporting donors and charitable events, JAH4WW hopes to continue to positively impact the lives of injured United States military veterans by remodeling or building accessible homes.
