Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors Hosts Demolition Ceremony for John Ricketts

With the help of Arrow Truck Sales and the RIDE 430 Team to name a few, Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors (JAH4WW) successfully kicked off the Demolition Ceremony for United States Army Sgt. John Ricketts on Saturday, September 6th, 2014 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Army Sgt. John Ricketts was injured in May of 2010, while serving as a gunner for the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan. An improvised explosive device blew up his vehicle during a routine convoy patrol of a mountainside. The homemade roadside bomb ripped the cab off of the heavy truck carrying John Ricketts and three other soldiers, and sent it flying off the edge of a cliff. His brain injury was so severe that at first he was not expected to ever walk or talk again.

After learning to walk and stand with severe pain, Ricketts made the difficult decision to have his legs amputated below his knees. He now has prosthetics and his dream is to compete in an on off-road marathon involving a run through the desert, a mountain-bike race, and a competitive swim.

In addition to the RIDE 430 Challenge benefiting Ricketts, a portion of the proceeds from this year’s Helping Heroes Gala will also go toward making a difference in the lives of John Ricketts and other heroes like him.
