Warrior Story

In April of 2010, Phoenix native United States Army Private First-Class Joshua Bullis deployed to the Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan with the 595th Sapper Company, 2nd Engineer Battalion. While on a routine foot patrol through an Afghan village, PFC Bullis stepped on a buried improvised explosive device (IED). As a result of the blast, both of his legs were amputated above his knees, as was his left arm above his elbow.

In October of 2011, Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors (JAH4WW) named PFC Bullis as the second recipient of an accessible home. In 2012, JAH4WW completed the full home remodel, including all new flooring for easy wheelchair accessibility, ramps in every entrance, customized bathrooms, and kitchen, widened doors and hallways, alterations to the garage to enable easy access from his custom vehicle, and an outdoor patio with a therapeutic Jacuzzi. Furthermore, JAH4WW also provided a fully automated Crestron home system, enabling PFC Bullis to have various control capabilities right from his wheelchair.

Please take a moment to honor PFC Bullis’ service and sacrifice by signing his guest book and leaving a message of support below. Consider donating today to help JAH4WW continue its mission of supporting combat-wounded Veterans. Your generosity makes a difference.
